COME AND GET IT
11″ x 9½” x 7″
Limited Edition of 20 Bronze
In the old West, and right through to today, the camp cooks are a colorful bunch. Sometimes they are cowboys who have gotten too beat up or old to continue, and sometimes they are drifters or drunks who could find no other work. But there were many who took great pride in their job. Often it was the cook who could make or break the job for a cowboy. He could put up with a lot if the food was good! This piece was fun to do and will be fun to have around.
The cook looks like a bit of a rough character. His long mustache, bowler hat and mule eared boots tell you he has established an identity all his own. Some of his supplies, flour and sugar, are in burlap bags laying down near the box on his right. He has a dutch oven of beans ready for the boys to eat. The plates are thrown down in a rather hap hazard manner, with no concern. On the other side of the box a is large pot of coffee ready to wash down supper. The box is modeled after an Arbuckles coffee box. These were standard equipment on the chuck wagons. I made it larger than life, so the cook in your house can use it for goodies. This piece will treat you in more ways than one every time you see it!
Our cook has everything ready, so it’s time to call the boys. With triangle clanging he’s telling every one “Come and Get It!”
