Let Curt tell you about this piece!

Cattle provide such wonderful subjects for sculpture. Their frame, textures and gestures are interesting and entertaining. They are certainly an important part of our American West and our culture. Often you will see range cattle, in the shade of a tree on a warm afternoon, chewing their cud, relaxing and watching their world go by. They appear as if they haven’t a care, but they are wise to their world and the ways of predators on the hunt.

This cow isn’t the prettiest one in the herd, but has a lot of character. I love the crooked horns, the hips and ribs evident in the rangy frame. She is a great subject for sculpture. The textures and gestures translate well.  This cow will appear to have walked across the surface on which she is placed and just decided to take a break.  How neat is that? It is a nice afternoon to take a Beauty Rest.
